The RIchmond Times Dispatch is launching a new email newsletter spotlighting local startups making a name for themselves and our region.
Richmond Startup Spotlight was launched on September 9. It features local success stories, new ventures, patent information, advice and articles of interest to entrepreneurs. The newsletter will also include a variety of columns that will provide helpful information and tips to the startup community. One new column will be from active encorepreneur Jay Markiewicz, an entrepreneur and executive director of entrepreneurship programs at Virginia Commonwealth University's School of Business. Markiewicz will offer insight on how to initiate the entrepreneurship journey.
All of the information on the startup community will be in one place — in the Richmond Startup Spotlight e-newsletter on Sundays. Much of the content will appear in the print version of Monday’s Metro Business section and elsewhere in the newspaper during the week.
In its article launching the newwsletter, the RTD quoted former encorepreneur speaker, Bryan Bostic. “Over the last two years, there has been an enhanced commitment by the RTD to storytelling of the startup community and entrepreneurship in general, and this announcement takes that commitment to another level,” said Bostic, a Richmond entrepreneur, angel investor and co-founder of Startup Virginia, a business incubator in Shockoe Bottom.
“Storytelling is critically important to the advancement of our growing innovation and entrepreneurial ecosystem,” Bostic said.
