Supporting Encorepreneur and newly elected Representative to Virginia's 7th Congressional District, Abigail Spanberger, has accepted an invitation to provide us with a inside look into what it is like to make the transition from private citizen to freshman Congresswoman.
Encorepreneur is about taking on new challenges and expanding your comfort zone, and there are few situations that present greater examples of that than the life changes that Rep. Spanberger faces after her win.
With only 6 days to recover from a long and tiring campaign, Abigail was due in Washington for a week long orientation for first-year members, and soon she will be working on winning the House's office lottery, negotiating with leadership to get a "plum" committee assignment, and scores of other tasks that there are different than anything a new member has ever experienced in her previous day job.
This special meeting won't follow our usual format. Instead of a speech from a podium, Abigail will join us for a chat over morning coffee. She will be answering questions and offering her observations about the day-to-day life of a new Congresswoman in an informal setting. We are planning on a date in mid December before she joins the 434 other members of the House in early January.
