 "Bring the Car Around!"

Have you ever envied those folks on TV who casually say "Bring the car around." when they are leaving the office? That may be you sooner than you think.

On demand transportaion companies are already an alternative to taxis and designated drivers, but that’s just the start. They could be a regular part of your life soon.

Younger riders opt for Uber instead of a car payment. Commuters choose a leisurely Lyft ride rather than a teeth clenching commute. Seniors give up their car without giving up their independence.  And governments incentivize ridesharing instead of building more roads. These are just a few of the changes that easier and more personalized access to otherwise empty seats may bring us in the future.

Matt Donlon, veteran of a successful exit from a defense contracting company and founder of Uzurv (pronounced like "reserve" with a u) will tell us about this new industry, and about how he decided to step back into the startup world for one last ride.

Uzurv works with existing on-demand transportation services like Uber and Lyft, allowing riders to make advanced reservations with the on-demand driver of their choice, filter drivers by vehicle, amenities and special services and send their requests to favorite drivers they know and trust.

OUR APRIL LOCATION

800 E. Broad Street

The Library of Virginia is housed in a modern granite and glass building on Broad Steet near the Capitol, and it's filled with high tech capabilities. It is also one of the oldest agencies of Virginia government. Founded in 1823, it contains the most comprehensive resource for the study of Virginia history, culture, and government in the world. We think you will be surprised and impressed by your state library and its collections.
